Difference Between LNG and LPG

(1) Ingredients

Liquefied natural gas (LNG for short) is the natural gas extracted from the well that is purified and heated up through compression. Under the action of mixed refrigerants, it cools to remove heat, and removes nitrogen, carbon dioxide, solid impurities, sulfides and water, and then saves energy. The stream expands to obtain -162 °C and the volume is reduced to 1/600 in liquid form, and the main component is methane.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG for short) is a colorless, volatile gas obtained by pressurizing, cooling and liquefying refinery gas or natural gas (including oilfield associated gas). The liquefied petroleum gas obtained from the refinery gas is mainly composed of propane, propylene, butane and butene, and also contains a small amount of pentane, pentene and trace sulfur compound impurities.


(2) Environmental protection

During the liquefaction process of LNG, impurities such as sulfur, carbon dioxide, and water have been removed, so the polluted gas emitted after combustion is more than 50% less than that of LPG, diesel, and heavy oil. The most environmentally friendly and pollution-free choice.


(3) Economical

The calorific value of LPG is 22033~29043kcal/Nm3, and the calorific value of LNG is 8500~9000 kcal/Nm3. Under the same calorific value, 1 cubic meter of LPG is equivalent to 2.6 cubic meters of natural gas, but the price of LPG is about 20 yuan/cubic meter, and the price of LNG is about 4.5 cubic meters. Yuan/cubic meter. It can be seen that under the same calorific value, natural gas is more affordable than liquefied petroleum gas. With the soaring prices of oil, coal and other energy sources, the price of liquefied petroleum gas has also continued to increase. Because of the low cost of LNG extraction, the national price is relatively stable.


(4) Security

Compared with LPG, LNG has a gas phase density of 0.74, which is lighter than air, and can drift with the air if there is a slight leakage. 1%-15% of LPG should be narrow, the density of LPG after gasification is higher than that of air, it is not easy to volatilize, and it is easy to suffocate, burn, and explode.
